9 Years Old | Entire (Loki) Spayed (Callie) | Older Children | Pet Free Home
Loki and Callie are a bonded pair of 9-year-old Greyhound/Saluki siblings who have endured years of neglect. They are currently in very poor conditions and, heartbreakingly, at risk of being put to sleep if they don’t find a safe home soon.
It’s thought they would prefer to stay together, but we don’t believe that’s essential – the most important thing is that each finds a loving home. Loki is the larger, sandy-coloured male, and Callie is his smaller brindle sister.
Callie is quiet, gentle, and walked beautifully on the lead despite being understandably apprehensive – after all, she hasn’t been walked in over four years.
Loki is the more energetic of the two. He can be bouncy when excited, but responds well when asked to calm down. On walks, he shows some reactivity if out with Callie, but is much more settled when walked alone. Given his lack of recent socialisation, we would suggest a muzzle until he has readjusted to outdoor life.
These two are not currently under Rescue Back Up (RBU), but Team Poundie will do everything we can to support a successful adoption. This includes home checks, meet and greets, vaccinations, transport, and potentially helping with Loki’s neutering.
Both dogs already know the command “sit” and take treats very gently. They are tolerant of children and have calm, steady temperaments – though due to Loki’s size, we don’t feel a home with very young children would be suitable.
Overall, despite their difficult past, Loki and Callie are fairly low-maintenance dogs. What they need most is love, patience, and a chance to enjoy the life they’ve been denied for so long.
These two deserve gentle, understanding homes where they can finally be cherished. They’ll need:
Ideally, a home willing to adopt them together – though we won’t rule out separate homes if needed.
A calm household without constant comings and goings.
Owners prepared to slowly reintroduce them to walks and socialising after years without.
No other dogs, cats, or small furries in the home, as they are sighthounds with a chase instinct.
No children under 10 years of age.
