5 Years Old | Neutered | No Small Children | Can Live With Dogs
Hugo is a gorgeous 5-year-old German Shepherd x Staffie — the perfect blend of two brilliant breeds! With his deep brown and black coat, flecked with brindle, he’s as handsome as they come. He’s got the strong, noble build of a Shepherd and the short coat and playful energy of a Staffie — truly the best of both worlds.
Hugo is a big-hearted, bouncy boy who loves life! Unfortunately, he hasn’t been getting the walks and stimulation he needs. A kind family took him in around a year ago, but having only owned small breeds before, they’ve found him a bit too much to manage.
He’s neutered, fully vaccinated, and up to date with flea and worming treatments. Hugo walks well on the lead — though he can pull a little — and he’s not reactive to other dogs, whether out on walks or visiting in the home (a real bonus!). He’s currently based in Telford, Shropshire.
We’ve met Hugo — or rather, he bounded up to meet us first! He’s lively and enthusiastic on greeting but soon settles. He knows basic commands, sits beautifully, and takes treats gently.
Hugo enjoys playing with other dogs and doesn’t show signs of resource guarding. He can be a bit of a “play mouther,” but always gently and without intent to harm. He’s not a fan of the vet (who is?), but he handles it quietly and without aggression.
At home, Hugo is well-behaved and trustworthy. He can be left for a few hours, is not destructive, and sleeps soundly through the night. He’s house-trained and adores a good rag toy, though furniture remains untouched!
So why is Hugo looking for a new home? Unfortunately, he’s been barking in the garden, which has led to neighbour complaints — and as the biggest and loudest of the household dogs, he’s the one who has to go.
Hugo would love a home that offers:
Plenty of space — a reasonable-sized home with a secure garden is a must
Children aged 12+ — he’s friendly but a bit too bouncy for younger ones
Potential for other dogs — he can live with canine friends, but no cats please
Regular exercise and stimulation — walks, play, and training to keep his body and mind active
Gentle, consistent training — he’s eager to please and will thrive with patient guidance on lead work and manners
