Elsie is a pretty little Mini Dachs with unusual coloured eyes! She is a typical Dach, so those that know, know!
This little lady has been a loved family member, rather ruling the roost for 4 years, as only Dachshunds can. She has lived with other dogs very happily and is amazing with them. Unfortunately, she does not feel the same about ‘the new boy on the block’ – an unexpected human baby- and she is having none of it thank you!
She is still entire and has had one litter. Team Poundie will support the costs of a spay, which will be a contractual requirement for the adopter.
We spent time with her, and she was friendly without being intrusive, loved a run in the field following every smell; and was very happy watching the world go by in the sun in the garden. However, she will take every opportunity to escape so she does not go off-lead and has a long lead in the garden, because it is not secure.
She needs that ready access to a secure garden as she will not wait to wee and poop if you are slow – given the baby in the house and her need to be on lead in her current garden, this is proving tricky for the family and accidents are happening.
Elsie has lived with older children, but we would advocate a child-free home for her. Under a very stressful situation she did nip a relative a year ago. She has not done it since, but given her continued wariness of the baby, the family feel she needs a new home where she can again be the centre of attention.
She seems to prefer females, but her owner is a woman, so that is what she is used to. She does obey the male in the house slightly better than the woman though!
Phew! Reading this back, she does seem to be a bit of a madam – but Dach owners will know what they are getting. She IS a cutie; she is friendly to people once she trusts you; she wants to be the centre of human attention again. So, what she needs:
