Dottie is a lovely Jack Russell x Chihuahua, just under 2 years old and currently unneutered. Through no fault of her own, she is looking for a new home where she can have the time, companionship and attention she deserves.
Dottie truly is the sweetest little girl. Sadly, due to work commitments, she is being left alone for long periods, and her family feel she would be much happier in a home where she has more company and regular walks. They want the very best for her future.
Dottie may bark when she first meets new people, but this is simply her way of saying she’s unsure. After a few sniffs and a gentle introduction, she quickly settles and is soon asking for fuss and affection.
She is clean in the house — even when left for longer periods — and is not destructive. She enjoys sitting at the window watching the world go by, though she may bark if dogs pass.
Dottie loves playtime, especially with her squeaky toys, and enjoys a game of fetch. She can be a little reluctant to give toys back, but will happily swap for a tasty treat! She takes treats very gently and will sit nicely when asked.
When over-excited she can become slightly mouthy, but this is brief, not aggressive, and something that can easily be improved with calm guidance and consistency.
At bedtime, Dottie loves nothing more than curling up beside you — she’s a real cuddle companion.
She hasn’t had much opportunity to socialise with other dogs, and currently tends to bark at both dogs and people when out on walks. With patient training, regular outings and positive introductions, this is something that can absolutely be improved. She is still young and very capable of learning.
Dottie would thrive in:
A home where someone is around most of the time (she can be left, but ideally only for shorter periods)
A home as the only dog
No other pets
No children, as she has not lived with them before
An owner willing to gently build her confidence with the outside world
With the right guidance, Dottie will blossom into a confident and devoted little companion.
Dottie is currently in Telford, Shropshire. Meet and greets can be arranged for home-checked applicants. She will have full rescue back up from Team Poundie, and neutering will be arranged.
She really is a sweetheart who just needs someone to help her feel safe while she discovers that the world isn’t such a big, scary place after all. Could that someone be you?
