Meet Ballu

5/6 Years Old | Children 12+ | Can live with calm dog

This gorgeous boy is Ballu, a young English Bull Terrier x Belgian Malinois with a heart full of love and a personality that lights up every room.
Ballu has been in rescue kennels for some time now—not due to any fault of his own, but simply because he’s a unique-looking crossbreed who’s been overlooked. We know better though—and so does everyone who meets him! His goofy charm, loving nature, and eager-to-please attitude make him an absolute joy to be around.

When Ballu first arrived, he was a nervous wreck. Life had given him very little in the way of experiences—he’d never even been for a walk before. But with time, patience, and consistent support, he’s transformed. Now, he’s confident, cuddly, and absolutely thriving.

What Our Team Says

Our carers and behaviourists can’t praise him enough. He’s affectionately earned the title of:

“Best-behaved dog on site.”

He’s crate trained, toilet trained, has great recall, walks beautifully to heel on the lead, and travels calmly in the car. He settles well, loves his enrichment time, and is always ready for a cuddle, a training session, or a game.

Their Personality & Progress

Ballu is the dog everyone turns to for a boost of happiness. He’s a gentle soul with a big personality and a brain that loves to be challenged. Whether it’s learning a new trick, sniffing out snacks from a snuffle mat, or just hanging out with his people, Ballu is all in.

He’s great with new people but can get a bit excited—he just needs someone who’ll set calm, clear boundaries from the start. He responds brilliantly to positive reinforcement and loves learning, so training is both fun and rewarding with him.

While he’s made incredible progress, he still prefers that people don’t take things directly from him—so it’s important his new home continues the gentle “trade/swap” approach he’s learned to trust.

The Home They Need

  • A home with children aged 12+ (he gets giddy and mouthy when excited!)

  • Could live with another calm, respectful dog (he’s happy to correct rudeness!)

  • No cats or small furries

  • Someone who will continue his training and provide mental stimulation

  • Can be left for a few hours in a crate with enrichment—he settles beautifully

  • An active adopter or family who will give him the love, structure, and play he deserves

Ballu may not be everyone’s “type” at first glance—but trust us, once you meet him, you’ll wonder how you ever lived without him.
