Jakey

Jakey is a male Lurcher aged 7 years old. He greets new people well and settles after a few minutes.

He walks fine on the lead and would love a long lead to go full speed, albeit for a short time.

What Our Team Says

Jakey is in temporary accommodation due to his owner having to go into a care home, but cannot stay there for long, he really needs his own gaff and someone new to love.

He is a lovely large lurcher with mostly greyhound characteristics.

Their Personality & Progress

We met Jakey and went on a long walk. He does not pull and loves to sniff and sniff!!

Occasionally he had a little leap forward as if to say “I could run you know!”

We walked past several people, mobility scooters, prams and along very busy roads with no problems at all – no reaction, no interest, just happy to carry on walking.

We let him have along walk on the lead in the park and he loved it. He has plenty of life left in him.

He did react to another dog we met in the park – a jump and a bark – but no aggression. We felt he wanted to play but we cannot say if he is dog freindly.

Back at home he settled on the sofa quietly.

He does not like being left on his own at night, missing his owner who he used to sleep with.

He can however be left on his own for a couple of hours in the day.

The Home They Need

Jakey does not need too much – a home and garden he can roam around in at will; a regular walk and most importantly, company at night.

He needs:

  • An owner who is home most of the time
  • A home as the only dog as not dog tested
  • An owner who can take him out for regular walks and long lead runs
  • Could live with older children who are used to dogs

No other pets in the house

Jakey is in the West Midlands and Meet & Greets can be arranged for suitable applicants. Support with neutering costs can be available from Team Poundie.
